HABITAT:

During the summer they are found in areas where the vegetation is most dense, such as the slopes of river valleys and upland plains. During the winter, they inhabit areas where the snow cover is not too deep, such as beach ridges and rock outcrops.

DESCRIPTION:

Caribou are almost white with small antlers. They have a large muzzle, short and broad ears, large feet, and crescent-shaped hooves. They are distant cousins to the deer.

THREATS:

Hunting and human disturbance to feeding areas.
