Elephant

HABITAT:

Savanna to open woodland and scrub country.

DESCRIPTION:

Height can be up to 4 m. Weight can be up to 7000 kilos. The most distinctive feature of elephants is the boneless, muscular trunk. This is actually a greatly elongated upper lip and nose used to bring grasses, leaves, roots, fruits, and water to the mouth.

THREATS:

Being hunted for their ivory tusks and habitat loss for agriculture.
