HABITAT:

Along the slopes of the Andes Mountains, from Venezuela to Peru.

DESCRIPTION:

Spectacled bears are black with white or yellow markings around the face and, at times, chest. Adult Spectacled bears are around 76 cm. tall at the shoulder and any where from 130 to 190 cm. long. The females are usually 2/3 the size of the males.

THREATS:

Loss of habitat for agriculture and being hunted for sports.
